Valentine Champagne Tasting: 4 each 2oz pours = $24

Gosset Grande Reserve Champagne, France $60 Gosset is the oldest Champagne house. It was established in 1584 in Ay, which is 145 years before Ruinart, the oldest all sparkling producer, opened its doors in 1729. When you make wine for 439 years you know a thing or two. The Gosset Grand Reserve Brut NV is drinking beautifully. It is 45% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir, 10% Meunier and it is aged three years on the lees (the smallest requirement for vintage champagne). This has great viscosity, a creamy full-bodied texture, delicate pastry crust, and loads of tropical fruit. Easily one of the best NV champagnes from the big houses. At the immaculate price of $60 the Grand Reserve is a mind-blowing steel.

Guy Charlemagne Grand Cru $60 Philippe Charlemagne is the fifth generation of father-to-son winegrowers in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. He only harvests and vinifies grapes grown from his own 37 acres of vines (87% being Chardonnay and rest Pinot Noir) which are planted in the Grand Cru villages of the Côte des Blancs. The vines are worked favoring nature-friendly practices that minimize the use of chemicals. Soil health and biodiversity are at the heart of Philippe's viticultural approach. This value-priced, multi-vintage Blanc de Blancs is made solely with Philippe's grand cru Chardonnay grapes from Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger. The cuvée underwent 100% malolactic fermentation and aged in tirage for three years. The result is a Champagne brimming with ripe Chardonnay and mineral goodness that is refreshingly balanced without being too brisk. JAMES SUCKLING 95 POINTS - "Restrained citrus notes, particularly fresh, with lime, chalk powder and tarte tatin pastry. Medium-bodied, tight palate that’s super-zesty, with silky, persistent mousse and a polished, mineral finish full of salinity. Elegant and tight. Drinkable now, despite the exuberance, though there’s potential for aging." (08/2024)

Lundeen Reserve Sparkling, Oregon $58 Entirely made up of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, this bottle of Oregon Sparkling Wine was crafted using a sizable percentage of reserve wines in the blend. Wines aged for up to 6 years before blending into the base wine. This process is rewarded with tremendous complexity and richness in the final wine. Disgorged by hand and on demand.

Schramsberg Blanc de Blanc $43 100% Sparkling Chardonnay This pale white gold colored Sparkling Wine from Schramsberg displays random tiny streaming bubbles. It opens with a light lemon and bread dough bouquet with hints of green apple and almond. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with bright acidity. The mouthfeel is round, balanced, clean, and fresh. The flavor profile is lime, lemon verbena, and green apple blend with notes of ginger ale and brioche. We also detected hints of white tea and stony minerality. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity linger and last for quite a while. The Tasting Panel would pair Blanc de Blancs with a thick cut grilled mahi-mahi or Wellfleet oysters. Enjoy -

This wine will benefit from decanting when in its youth and will continue to reward with age.
