  • Santiam Wine & Bistro Springtime Rosé Tasting Friday, April 18, 2025
    • 2023 Peyrassol LA Croix Organic Grapes, Mediterrancee Rosé $16
Beautiful pale pink in color, with distinct bluish hues. This expressive blend opens immediately with notes of small red fruits carried on a savory undertone of garrigue. There is a refreshing touch of greenness on the palate which gives this fresh, lively wine its truly thirst-quenching character.
    • 2023 Triennes Rosé France $19
Jacques Seysses, founder of Domaine Dujac, and Aubert de Villaine, co-owner of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti – are the partners behind this pioneering property in Provence, northeast of Marseille and due east of Aix-en-Provence. Over the years, they have transformed this stunning 113.7 acre (46 hectare) site into one of the top wine estates in Southern France. Winemaker's Notes: Pale pink. A compelling bouquet of strawberries and white flowers with a touch of vanilla. Expressive and elegant, the palate offers mouthwatering freshness. An embodiment of the Mediterranean in the glass. Wine Summary: Cinsault with Grenache, Syrah and Merlot; alcohol: 13%; vineyards in Var facing Massif de la Sainte Baume; clay and limestone soil; grapes harvested at night to ensure cool temperature at cellar; pressed after few hrs skin contact; fermented at low temperature in stainless steel tanks until dry.
    • 2023 AIX Cotes du Provence, Rosé $20
Winemaker Notes: A fragrant and well-balanced wine, AIX's hypnotizing salmon pink color reveals a fruity freshness. The nose is delightfully fragrant with delicate balance and crisp acidity. Enjoy the notes of soft, ripe summer fruits particularly watermelon and strawberries.
      Blend: 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 20% Cinsault.
    • 2024 By Ott Cotes du Provence Rosé $27
      A blend of 60% Grenache, 26% Cinsault, 7% Syrah, 7% Mourvedre
Bright, luminous peach-pink color with soft rosewood tints.
Aroma: Expressive nose featuring red berries, citrus, and white blossom.
Exotic fruit. Luscious and fruity with a smooth, silky mouthfeel. Fresh citrus zest with lingering fruity character and sweet spices like cinnamon and cardamom.

  • Santiam Wine & Bistro Red, April 2025 Cheap & Cheerful Six-pack $91.80
    • 2022 Domaine Fond Croze Cairanne, Southern Rhone, FR. $15 Magnificent, single vineyard old vine blend of Grenache, Carignan and Mourvèdre. The vineyard is a single two-hectare plot on the southern hills between Cairanne and Rasteau, clay-limestone hillsides with south-east exposure, providing perfect growing conditions for these varietals. Deep garnet in color with purplish reflections, the nose is initially quite closed — we would recommend decanting just to aerate — but opens to reveal an enticing mix of savory dried fruits and fresh red fruit and floral aromas. The palate is fleshy and beautifully rounded, polished black fruits with a coffee bean minerality, soft chocolatey tannins and the most mannerly of acidity providing a silken backbone on which a complex array of savory flavors reveal themselves. The finish is long and complex, remaining fresh and elegant to the end.
    • 2021 Chasing Rain Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain $16 Grapes: 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot Appellation: Red Mountain Region: Colombia Valley Winemaking: Aged 20 months in American oak, 22% new ABV: 14.5% The Chasing Rain by Aquilini represents SERIOUS bang for your buck. It is deep, dark fruits, dried herbs, dusty cocoa, and broad shoulders mirror wines well beyond its price tag. A hearty stand-alone sipper, or pair it up with burgers, beef, or dark chocolate for a real, good time!
    • 2022 Barone Di Bernaj Frappato Terre Siciliane $15 This wine is 100% Frappato from Sicily the tip of the boot. The 2022 Barone di Bernaj Frappato offers a vibrant bouquet of fresh cherries, complemented by subtle notes of balsamic and black pepper. On the palate, it is clean and refreshing, with lively acidity and fine-grained tannins. The wine's bright red fruit flavors, accented by hints of fresh herbs and a touch of minerality, leading to a crisp, satisfying finish. This Frappato is particularly enjoyable when served slightly chilled, making it an excellent companion for light appetizers, cheeses, and charcuterie.
    • 2022 Pendulum Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley $17 A wisp of violets and bay leaves joined by aromas of black cherries and pot roast. A balanced wine with an elegant texture, the Pendulum swings toward blackberry jam, Philo dough and black tea flavors. Grab yourself a turkey burger with tomato relish to pair with this outstanding value. — 91 Points Michael Alberty The Wine Enthusiast
    • 2021 Angels & Cowboys Red Blend Sonoma County $21A graham cracker aroma continues in the flavors of this soft and agreeable wine as almost-sweet blueberries and dark chocolate fill in the palate. It tastes rich and sweet, good with spicy barbecue or as an after-dinner drink. 89 Points
    • 2023 Mesa Pinot Noir Willamette Valley $18 As if McKinlay's regular Willamette Valley Pinot Noir were not enough of a deal at $19.95, there is a brand-new screaming deal from the McKinlay cellar: Mesa. This superb "table" wine shows juicy and surprisingly silky-for-its-price red fruits. Is it simple, even a bit rustic? It is, like that 5 Euro glass of tasty, youthful red you sipped in the Italian or French countryside and thought, "boy I wish I could find a wine like this back in the States." Here is your domestic version, made in the cellar under the house. Pretty damn authentic.

  • Santiam Wine and Bistro April 2025 White Cheap and Cheerful $73.80 Updated
    • 2023 Riff Pinot Grigio Italy $12 Brilliant straw-yellow color with a green tint. Fine, fruity, forward varietal aromas. Fresh, lively, precise, medium-bodied with a fresh mouth-watering finish, dry and crisp. Organic ALC12%
    • 2023 Domaine Pajot Les 4 Cepages, Cote du Gascogne France $$12 This is a beloved staple at Santiam Wine & Bistro! Domaine de Pajot is located in Southwest France overlooking the capital of Armagnac, a region more well known for their brandy than table wines. The entire estate is certified organic, grown over rolling hills of mostly sand and fine silt soils, vines interspersed with hazelnut trees. 'Les Quatre Cépages' is a blend of 35% Sauvignon Blanc, 35% Colombard, 20% Ugni-Blanc, 10% Gros-Manseng. Fermented and aged in stainless steel, this wine is dry, crisp, and well balanced. Pajot is our go-to pick for your event, pleasing everyone at a moderate price, or for enjoying at home as an aperitif or with fish and chicken dishes. ALC 11.5%
    • 2022 Avaleda  Alvarionho, Portugal $12 Pale yellow with hints of gold. Discreet aromas of grapefruit, white peaches and white flowers. On the palate this wine is incredibly structured and smooth, revealing more prominent notes of orange zest, pineapple and orange blossom. Pair with vegetable au gratin, oysters, and oily fish like tuna or salmon.
    • 2024 MAN Chenin Blanc, South Africa $11 Fresh and fruity, with ripe citrus fruits and a tropical fruit finish. Pair with fresh shellfish, poultry, and salads. ALC 13.5
    • 2022 BREA Chardonnay Central Coast CA $20. The Wheeler Vineyard's Chardonnay planted in 1977 on an elevated gravelly alluvial terrace. Kevin Olson Vineyard is one of the coldest vineyards in California. This is where we get the nice acid backbone in the wine. We picked the fruit at 20.5 - 21.5 brix to capture a nice balance of acidity and fruit. ALC13%
    • 2023 La Solitude Cotes du Rhone Blanc $15. This wine is a blend of three varietals. The Clairette brings the freshness and zest of citrus, the Viognier the aromatic depth and roundness, and the Grenache the notes of white flowers. The grapes are harvested early in the morning and completely destemmed. The fermentation in stainless-steel vats preserves the full aromatic freshness. The wine has a nose of citrus and apricots, a round and generous mouthfeel, and a fresh and flavorful finish. ALC 13%
