    • 2020 Portlandia Cabernet Sauvignon Big Dreamer, Oregon $18  Deep purple color. Aromas and flavors of chocolate caramel bar, brown butter, and crusty cassis phyllo tart with a round, bright, dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a tingling, interesting, long finish with nuances of dried berries, black olive relish, eucalyptus honeycomb and incense, and mint gelato with chewy tannins and moderate oak flavor. A warming, supple, and savory cabernet for sipping on a chilly night.

    • 2019 Plano Alto Garnacha & Carinena Spain $12 92 IWR - The 2019 Plano Alto is fresh and inviting, as it opens to aromatics of black raspberries, wild cherries, pomegranate, sweet spices, and fresh flowers which all jump from the glass. On the palate this is vibrant with fresh red berries, florals, and spices. This is accessible today, but should continue to develop nicely over the next 2-3 years.

All the great stuff. 4 months in French oak, La Fortuna’s master wine making hand, a bundle of joy, really. There are very few producers whose Rosso-level Sangiovese wines rise to nearly the level of the big gun (and $40-$150) Brunello’s, but this is clearly a shining example of one. A brilliant, glowing, luminous, zesty, fresh and shimmering one!! Absolutely PERFECT for every day, all-the-time, burger/pasta/raw vegan salad/carnitas/whatever drinking.
